Look Both Ways Before YOU Cross Me
I saw Blood Diamond a bitterly savage and incendiary film about (conflict) diamonds being smuggled out of Africa. It is the kind of film that makes you want to rip the sparkleys right out of your own ears. I’m not gonna do that. They were my moms so I am keeping them, but there certainly won’t be anymore future purchases.
I’m in a mood.
Blood Diamond ended after midnight so Tom and I drove to his house in separate cars. He was behind me in the right lane. I was in the middle lane. I was about 5 blocks on Keystone from the street I live on when a white cat darted onto the road heading straight in front of my car. I swerved to the right and then I felt my car go over something. I let out a scream as if someone just released a knife from my heart. My foot came off the brake. After mindlessly pulling to the right and then to the left I finally settled on parking my car on a side street off Keystone. Tom pulled next to my car and asked me what was wrong. “I ran over a white cat”, I said. “Wait here”, he replied. “I’m going back to look over there.” He came back and said he saw nothing. No blood. No fur. No cat. “Do you mind if I go home and see if Eva is home?” I asked. “No, I want to look at the front of your car anyway.” he said. I looked everywhere, no Eva. He saw nothing on my car. Then we went to his house but not before I went back to check for myself to see if I could find a limping kitty. Nothing.
The next day nothing. No Eva at home. I went back to check the location of the incident. I was on the phone with an employee I work with explaining the details of the previous evening…when oh my god… Eva is back.
Tom noticed some large branches right around the place my car started to slow down. He thinks it’s possible I ran over them instead. Maybe the swerve was enough to give the cat time and space to turn around and run in another direction.
I’m ok now. But it shook me up pretty badly.

That sounds horrible! I’m glad Eva is okay. I can so picture you having a kitty named Eva. lol
I think I’ll steer clear of the movie though, maybe when it’s out on video… I don’t like to think too much when i sit in the theater… I find it hurts. lol have a great day. Ang
maybe you did miss the cat. Blood diamonds are very tragic and an issue I have followed for a while…
YOu updated!!!!!
I am so glad you didn’t hit Eva! I love cats.
I want to see that movie. I saw Apocalipto. The chocolate trade isn’t much better.
As an animal lover, I’m relieved everything seems to be OK after this incident. You’ll never guess where I found you. I mentioned stressmagnet in a blog today, decided to revisit her page, and found you (and others) amongst the comments.
So many people come and go around here (Xanga, I mean), it’s nice to find a friend of stressmagnet who still posts. And entertainingly, I might add.
Pleased to meet you.
