  • Unjaded Weekend

My friend Andi from LA made an impromptu visit to Indy this past weekend. So I got to spend New Year’s Eve with one of my most favorite people. I’m usually at some obligatory party because it is New Year’s Eve but this was a quiet celebration. I made ravioli for Andi, Tom, Lauri and me. As we popped the champagne I thought to myself how blessed I am to shepherd in the new year with those that I adore.

We went downtown and stopped at the Eiteljorg Museum to visit the Art-O-Mat vending machine. This time I was able to pull the lever and get this impressive little gem…made even more special to me because of the spiritualistic lyrics of Bird On The Wire by Leonard Cohen. This song comes as close to being my anthem as any song can.

Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If i, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If i, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.

Nice, eh and now it is at home in my kitchen. I turned Andi on to the Art-O-Mat (see what you started Ang1972? GRIN). She just loved the idea but the lever jammed when it was her turn. She ended up selecting a really cool painting on a wooden block at the reception area.

Later, we walked by the canal in the rain.

I was introduced to a red wine and a spirit that has climbed to #1 in my ongoing personal taste test.

  • now that looks like fun…

  • All sounds very cultured!

  • I don’t know how I missed this one, thanks for letting me know. That is beautiful! Did you see I went again too? I let my daughter choose so I ended up with one I normally wouldn’t have picked, but it’s fun. Bird on a wire is a great song…

I’m glad you had a nice visit with your friend, sometimes quiet celebrations are the best.

How is your Mom doing? Have a great day. Ang
